Shipping over here is about making me crazy so...
Think I'm switching from huge post office runs to click and ship labels.
What this means for you... possible cheaper shipping + delivery confirmation on every order.
Wish me luck. Got a working label maker and waiting on the right size labels to make my dream of an easier shipping life come true.

for a couple years i did shipping for a large scuba supplier, online is the way to go if you have enough business. it made customs reports a lot easier also.

Here is the big problem I've run into... I can do everything domestic perfectly through Paypal shipping. International, it only gives me the choice of priority and express.
So to do priority flat rate overseas I can do it on USPS's website. I cannot in any way do First Class shipping online, and that is a killer. So may have to do some sort of hybrid shipping model I guess.

I have to rely on a hybrid model. In Canada it might cost more or less depending on what province the buyer is from, whereas orders to anywhere in the USA will always be the same price. So I just figure out the cost of shipping to each province, divide it by the number of provinces, and end up with the average. For people who contact me direct, I charge them exact, for orders via the website it's the average. Cheaper for people on the east coast when it's actually a few dollars more for me to ship there, and a bit more expensive for those closer to home, but it all evens out I suppose.
Also with the online shipping tool, even after the 8% discount, it's still cheaper to pay for oversize lettermail packages at the counter, as the shipping tool doesn't support smaller things and will bump it up to being a small packet.
But, that's Canada Post, I know you're in a totally different boat.

Apparently a bunch of people use Endicia with the service that costs $15 a month. Might be a viable option. Hate paying a monthly fee though.
