^^^That band ruled, one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

First punk show I ever saw, March 26th, 2003 at the Living Room in Providence. About a week before I turned 16.

I used to have that LOI/Slave State split... I think I lost it in a move or something stupid.

I know Chris Dodge is in LOI now, but what the fuck is with them straight up recycling an entire Spazz song and just putting different lyrics over it?

I don't have any of their other releases :/ I've been meaning to pick up some of their older work

Both LPs are great and well worth your time.

Well I imagine if I enjoy the newer, described as "mediocre" jams, then I will probably get a lot more out of their older material. I'm just real slow when it comes to buying records.

The vocals used to annoy me to a level I could never hope to describe during this era but they've grown on me.

I would say the Take Another Step 12" is also essential and I possibly like it even more than this stuff. Just stay away from the Trevor Fairbanks LP and you should be fine.

I'm slowly warming up to Lack of Interest, I'll have to check out the other stuff you guys have recommended that I haven't heard yet.
Anyways, this:

Infest vs. Lack of Interest is a TOUGH call for me.

I think I'm in the same boat, I've never been much of an Infest fan. I know LOI and Infest get compared a lot, but LOI just sounds meaner and I can get behind that a lot easier (derp lulz)

The vocals used to annoy me to a level I could never hope to describe during this era but they've grown on me. thats honestly one of the main draws for the early stuff i think. the original/current main guy jsut sounds like a generic 'fastcore' singer to my ears

Oh, to be in high school again and a clueless math metal enthusiast. It seriously took me two years before I could listen to Spazz without cringing at Dan Lactose vocals but I persevered because I liked the music that much.

I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Spazz, not an everyday kind of band for me.
Infest rules, but I haven't heard enough of Lack if Interest's older material to make a call between the two. At least with LOI I can own some of their records. No record is worth what those Infest records go for online, fuck that.

I don't remember paying any exorbitant price for the No Man's Slave 12" or the Mankind 10" re-release. Wish I could remember what I paid for the Live at KXLU though.

Actually, yeah you're right. No Man's Slave can be found at reasonable rates. Slave 12" has laughable prices.

Easy call for me:
Infest is okay, Lack of Interest sucks. Honestly, there are times where I'm in the mood for Infest, but it's usually when I'm in the mood for youth crew hardcore more than powerviolence (this is not a common occurrence).
EDIT: At the very least, posting about this put me in the mood to listen to Infest for the first time in a very long while, haha...

I think I have some Infest songs on my computer somewhere. Never heard lack of interest though.
