I keep wanting to get one of those, too. Too expensive for what would be a novelty for me.

Since it seems I'm forever doomed to be in two piece bands, it would be more than a novelty for me, but yeah, too expensive for me right now as well. Maybe if I sell another pedal.

I know there aren't a whole lot of bass players around, but I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge of bass pickups. Im looking for more crunch and/or attack, I have a p/j configuration and right now have the Seymour duncan basslines 1/4 pounders in. Not terrible, but just wondering if there's anything better as its hard to find dedicated descriptions about bass pickups the way you see them about guitar. Right now I'm wondering about Aguilar.

I had a bass on layaway, but was gifted a new Sterling Sub4 bass yesterday, much to my surprise. Also just bought an Ashdown 1x15 combo for cheap from a local musician. Super excited to start learning a "new" instrument.

I got asked to play bass in a band so I'll be taking the plunge and buying one soon as well.

Does anyone have any experience with wiring pickups directly to output jacks and bypassing any tone pot? I've heard it can give you a higher output and brighter tone, which may be what I want. I just bought new 250k pots to replace whatever I've got in there now, but am now wondering if this is a better option.

I do! Sounds pretty good if you're super into the sound of the pickup in question and don't mind not being able to turn your tone/volume down. Have you looked into no-load wiring? This does practically what wiring directly to the input jack does, without sacrificing your tone/volume knobs.

I have not, though I should, given I have to turn my volume down between songs because there's so much noise. Even with the isp decimator.

I wire all my guitars without tone pots, except for the one with the active emg pickups.

Looks like I'll pick up a no load tone pot since I only ordered two new pots anyway. Thanks for the suggestion. See if that does enough without having to buy new pups for now.

Cool pedal! It's only a matter of time before I start hunting for pedals for bass, haha. Still gotta get an amp though (already flipped that Ashdown combo--oops), which leads me to my next question: do you or other bassists here have any experience with the old Peavey Mark IV bass heads? There's one sitting up at a local shop with the (what I assume is) matching 1x15 for $250. I tested it out yesterday and everything seems to be working a-ok. Didn't know if there were any known issues with the amp that may or not be dealbreakers.

I've used one a couple of times. Definitely solid but I've never owned one. My vote goes for a GK 400RB. mine looks like a dumpster VHS player but is indestructible and sounds good and has power. And cheap. And I dropped it straight down a stairwell one floor and it didn't affect it at all

There's an ampeg svt-3 (non-pro) in a music shop near here for $300 I really want to try out, but can't afford to spend any money. Sucks because it's a good deal. Want to snatch it up before everyone realizes what they're missing.

I just sold all two of my tube amps to cloud rat

The svt-3 non-pro version is actually a hybrid amp with tube preamps and a solid state power section, whereas the svt-3 pro is full tube, but I don't like what I've heard from that one. I'm hoping the hybrid amp would give me a more definable guitar-like distortion and crunch when eq-ed the way I have my one signal chain instead of the enforcer.
And that's probably why cloud rat sounded so good when I saw them. His guitar tone was nuts, all over the place, most dynamic I've seen in a live setting for not touching any pedals and being the only string instrument.

I think part of my tax return is going to a digitech bass whammy pedal. I had been wondering about the standard version for a bit but then found the bass version can be purchased for significantly cheaper.
Also looking into another 4x10, anyone have experience with trace elliot? It's a 1048. Reviews I've seen so far have been good. $200 too.

Bought a Gibson Sonex guitar on tour and I love it. lots of tonal options. Bin playing it straight into my Peavey Windsor and into my ampeg 8x10 and its gross.

Ordered a Catalinbread "Antichthon" pedal and a Green Rhino MkII. Needed a good overdrive and found that Green Rhino cheap, but I'm super excited for the Antichthon, as that thing is going to be super fun to mess around with.
