got a bunch of gear since the last time I posted here almost three years ago, but most notably an original 5150 head and a Firebass 700 head. The whole tour series Peavey did is so it on clad.

Haven't had money to invest in much, but finally got around to copper shielding/resoldering my bass to cut down on noise which has been nice. Also snagged some of these carts from my old job they use to move racks of bread around that are perfect for moving guitar cabs. So that's sweet.

I've recently taken to the S&K VHD pedal as it sounds absolutely massive and can really make any halfway workable setup sound a lot better than it should. Since my Randall RH300 head's effects loop input is dead, I run it through the front like any distortion pedal. Keen to see if there'd be any difference going through the effects. Regardless it's so handy having the sound of an Ampeg head I wanted but couldn't find here in Melbourne in a little pedal box.

I had to let a 5150II matched head and cab go for AU$1000 the other day, nearly broke my heart. However I've bought my MDF ticket and have a goddamn tour to organise for Contaminated so I gotta think of the big picture haha.

Gear comes and goes, I know that was tough to let go of, but I’d say a MDF ticket and getting to tour are a great trade off! So those S&K pedals really are badass, huh? I need to get one at some point, I’ve got an SS150 that I run into the power section of my 5150 now and it sounds amazing, but that setup in a pedal seems way more convenient...

Yeah, I always have a blast at MDF and it's well worth coming from the other side of the world for. I went in 2014/15 and both years were incredible. Fortunately those 5150II rigs seem fairly affordable around here still so I'll be able to pick one up after we get back I reckon. And yeah those VHD pedals are absolutely vicious and well worth the coupla hundred $! I mean for dirty, super low tuned death metal/grind its perfect, which is really all I do, so it well suits me. It's a no brainer trade off, just short term pain, long term gain...!

got me an EQD Dispatch Master a week or so ago, very good darker sounding reverb/delay, I'd say it's similar to an MXR Carbon Copy but a little more transparent sounding.

I know they're not hard to find like the 5150's but it still sucked. I love that thing. I feel your pain.

Drummers: recommendations for a solid entry level 4 or 5-piece kit with not terrible hardware out there? I've been trying to piece together a kit with used stuff found on Craigslist and various classifieds, but apparently drummers don't get rid of shit around here and I think I'm gonna go the retail route.
EDIT: Managed to find a kick drum and pedal, floor tom, two rack toms, and a snare for dirt cheap, now I just need cymbals and hardware...

Traded one of my cabs for some more drum stuff, shells are DDrum brand? I forgot which series it's from already
24x20" kick 16" floor 14" rack Wuhan china uhhhh some other brand hi-hats
Bass drum doesn't have the mounting bracket for rack toms so I have to put the rack tom on a cymbal or snare stand I think

Honestly I like the tom on a snare stand it doesn't sit as high

I seem to have better leverage, I dunno if it's more the type of head that's on it but double strokes come a lot easier. It just kinda looks funny cause that kick drum is so big haha

I wish I had a setup like that cuz I'd put my toms off to the side and closer/ easier to reach

It definitely seems like an easier way to set the kit up, then again I'm not really a drummer so I'm sure that factors into that lol
I also got one of those new Fender Santa Ana overdrive pedals, thing is a workhorse. Never thought the ability to switch from buffered to true bypass, or from line boost to drive boost would be something I'd care about but it's really cool.
