Do you use all heirloom seeds, Will? If you do, do you harvest your own seed for the next year then too? I have always wanted to get some good heirloom tomato seeds and grow them instead of the 'regular' seeds they sell commercially. Never seem to get to it tho... My garden is kinda half-assed tho.

Gonna start an herb garden in my kitchen soon. Super happy about that. Yard isn't big enough to grow anything else too awesome, but herbs are always awesome to have on hand.

I think we can finally start the seeds in the greenhouse tomorrow. It still will frost but I have a black barrel I can fill with water to put in the greenhouse as a passive heater. June 1st shit gets moved out of the greenhouse.

So jealous. You don't mulch at all though? My soil bakes hard without some straw or newspaper. What is the blue barrel?

I've been mulching a little bit, but it's REALLY hard to find that much material to use as mulch. There's a well on the other side of the fence, and I use a 5gal bucket to transfer water from the well into the blue bucket that I fill watering cans with. it's a pain in the ass. takes a few hours just to water about half the garden. I need to get a hand pump.
I'm about to leave for 2 weeks, so the whole thing is seeded with buckwheat and clover which I'll turn under in most places when I get back.
I also just got some seeds from China for some kind of Chinese turnip and Daikon radishes. 11lb radishes here I come!

i have an apple tree in my back yard, the apples are pretty big and yellowish. i know apple trees are pretty prone to diseases, so we are scoping for any sort of suspicious fungus or anything. if all goes well, we are going to collect the fruits to make some apple wine this autumn, and turn it into applejack in the winter.

I have in my garden: Basil Parsley Cilantro Anaheim, Habanero, Serrano, and a couple other peppers Tomatoes Spinach Chard Watermelon Zucchini Cucumber Eggplant Honeydew Corn
So far, i've only harvested the herbs and some cucumbers. My cucumbers shot out so fast, it's awesome. I'd say a little over half of my garden was started from seed, and the rest I bought sprouted. This was my first attempt at a garden, but next year I definitely want to plant everything from seed. Almost everything has begun to fruit. So, question: My pepper plants have a slight blackening everywhere there's a split of branches from the main stalk? Normal? Too much/little nutrients? My gardening lingo isn't up to par, so if what i'm asking doesn't make sense, i'll just snap a pic and upload it.

dude that sounds like a badass garden. you should post some pics. Also, pics of your blackening peppers might help. I notice that my jalapenos turn black if I leave them on the bush too long, and the branching is normal.
