I'm pretty sure Lagunitas is my favorite west coast brewery. It's definitely in my top 3 overall but there are just so god damn many great breweries to choose from. If you ever see Lagunitas Gnarleywine grab that shit. I had it on tap a couple times last year and it blew me away, maybe the best barleywine I've had so far.

[wishing he knew were to get Brown Shugga beer.] That sounds so good. I used to prime all my brown ales and ESB's with brown sugar. Plus, malty + high quality high grav. Yum. I'm going to cash in my change @ the bank before I head out on amplifier run today. MUST pick up a mix-a-six. Or two if there's more quarters in the jar than I think... Here's to hoping they have Brown Shugga at woodmans!!!

Lagunitas is hands-down the coolest brewery, simply because the DEA shut them down for a brief period for brewing a beer made with weed for their employees. A beer rep at the bar i work at said he took a tour of the brewery, and all the brew masters and employees walk around in sandals and shit... hippies.

Anyone else get to try the limited Sierra Nevada Hoptimum imperial IPA yet? It's 10.4% and super hoppy and sweet. Pretty well balanced compared to some reviews I've read on beeradvocate. My job has 32oz to go draught beers to go and i get 1/2 off so i've been getting them filled for like $8 and I'm set for the evening. i Also had my first beer cocktail last night waiting for my takeout order. It's called a Belladonna and it's a jigger of cassis liqueur (regionally made in the Finger Lakes from black currants 24%), 1/2 Sly Fox Black Raspberry reserve(8%) and 1/2 Young's Double Chocolate Stout on nitro tap(5.2%). It improved everything tenfold from being mixed as i had tried both beers exclusively prior to trying this new special. It was like chocolate raspberry cake batter because the nitro tap made it so creamy(guiness drinkers, the "widget" in their bottles and cans? does the same thing.) Beer cocktails are not as bad as you'd probably imagined.

I was drinking Privateers (Strongbow + Jameson) at 10am last Wednesday. Those, random shots, some Ommegang belgian browns, a bumjug of Carlo Rossi, PBRs and Black Velvet made for a time-warp of a work day. I wish my car would get iced in more often!

Is Brown Shugga a regular Lagunita's beer? I couldn't find it at woodman's and they had a pretty good selection of beer from that brewery...
Instead of pick-a-sixes, I got these: -Lakefront Brewery's Organic ESB (Milw. WI); one of the best American ESB's I've ever had, and it's not always made by Lakefront...
-1845 Pils (or 1845 All Malt Pils?) from Minhas Brewery of Monroe, WI (new one to me). Really good pilsner - super crisp hop flavor without being bitter, really fine carbonation without being fizzy like some of Leinenkugels beers @ the same price, and a really rich golden-not-caramel full malt flavor. $7.49 for an eight pack!
(Interesting google; Minhaus is the same company that brews Huber, Rhinelander, Berghoff, malt liquor for Canada export, and makes contracted-in beer for a couple other small brewing companies. Kind of a macro brewer instead of micro brewery, but without being a mega-brewer. the 1845 is still a good pils I'd buy again...)

technically i think it's got a November release and lasts til January but sometimes (around here especially) i'll find it out of season and at 9.99% i buy it whenever i see it because it's not going bad for a while. lagunitas is super interesting, last time i was on their website i remember they had like a new seasonal each month, i've tried most and never had one i didn't like.

Bobby, you were talking about trading beers; want to trade a bottle or two of Lakefront Organic ESB for Brown Shugga if you can still find it?

It's not the ten beers. It's drinking a gallon of something in an hour that made you barf. A gallon of milk or water would do the same. Someone died in a water drinking contest some years ago for a stupid radio contest. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16614865/ns/us_news-life/Enjoy your beer, don't try to kill yerself with it.

A-2-da-wesome! Does beer need to be UPS mailed? If I'm rem'ing right, you can't USPS mail liquids, even if they're high quality malt beverages? I will save two Organic ESB's. Don't take too long!

I was able to make it out to my regualr stomping rounds and it must have been popular this year because it's all gone. I saw that the Hairy Eyeball is in season which is similar so if I have the cash I'll grab a 6er or a single and send it to you. And you are correct about usps not allowing shipping of alcoholic beverages. maybe that's why my 6 pack never showed up from my friend from florida. we'll figure this out yet.

you can't ship any kind of alcohol or use packaging that shows labels from alcoholic beverages. So if you're trying to ship something in a box you got from behind the liquor store, you gotta wrap it in paper first. you'd be hard pressed to send a liquid via usps anyway.

I'm pretty sure you can ship beer via UPS. They ship ammo and paints and vacuum tubes, etc., and firearms with the right paperwork. I think when I traded homebrews years ago it was thru UPS shipping.
I'll get some Brown Shugga in Nov. I'll be able to get Sam Adams Octoberfest then too...

I can probably still get you some Brown Shugga, I asked the grocery here to stock up and last I checked no one else had any interest in it. No promises though.
