I'm housesitting/dogsitting for my parents this weekend so I picked up one of the DS zelda games, Spirit Tracks, on a whim. I had always avoided the DS renditions of the franchise because all touchscreen controls seemed like a major turn off but I'm a couple hours into this fucker and what a mistake it was sleeping on this one! The controls don't favor combat so it is kept at a minimum and having to blow into the mic for certain items is embarassing (I could never play this in public) but god dammit it works. The puzzles have been satisfying so far and the train driving is more enjoyable than I had anticipated.

All Zelda games rule! Just replayed most of OoT and am waiting to borrow Skyward Sword from my nerd GF. Have you played Majora's Mask and is it worth checking out before I switch the N64 for Wii?

MM is difficult compared to OoT (MM has a time limit) but is an absolutely amazing game that has a lot of cool abilities (you can transform into goron and zora!) and is a pretty creepy game. I'd almost say it is better than OoT but it is a different experience. Highly reccomend it. Also I think you can download it to the Wii for $10 and while you'll have to pay I much prefer the gamecube controller over the N64 controller.
Edit: also skyword sword was rad and the controls were spot on and it isn't a bad game, but it didn't have that charm that the other games had. Felt sort of weak but not a bad game by any means.

I got about halfway through Majora's Mask before losing all the patience I had over my shitty, worn out controller. If I was to bother finding a new N64 controller, that would probably be first on the list of things to do.
Skyward Sword was the best one to come out since Ocarina of Time, a classic in every sense of the word.

Skyward Sword was the best one to come out since Ocarina of Time, a classic in every sense of the word. you literally can't win the race as the fat guys (the brown dudes) if you don't have a new n64 controller because you control their speed with the joystick. also the boss battle where you roll around sucks

I can't decide whether to play super mario galaxy 2 when I get home, between fits of barf/dumpage, or Shining Force. Life is hard.

Oh I know, I was just saying that I had a lot fun with that boss battle. I had trouble with it at first because the concept was so different at the time, but in the end I loved getting to that point in the game each time I replayed it.

I just downloaded a ROM of Mother for NES to give it a whirl (Mother 2 is what became Earthbound in the states) but it's in Kanji... at least I can sort of figure out what's going on anyway. EDIT: Never mind, found an English one
I also found Mystical Ninja on Game Boy. Had been trying to find a cartridge of the N64 game for several years to no avail.

Not gonna lie, the first Mother kinda sucked. It could be because i'm not a huge fan of ost NES RPGs, but Mother 2 and 3 were some of my favorite games ever.

Just found a Myst CD I'm going to try and install on my PC. It says "for Windows 3.1".

A real problem I seem to be having with RPGs on the NES is that they make the map way too big and repetitive without really giving any hints as to what direction to go in. It's not as bad with Mother, but the first two Zelda games have a serious issue with that.

Same style, way smaller dungeons.

Ocarina of Time was way better.
