Seems a little unnecessary. I mean, I guess if he built it himself or something I would understand, but if there's duct tape on it I'd assume he didn't. Oh well.

it's kind of like a grandma's secret recipe. you know? it took him a long time of just trying out every damn piece of equipment to find something he liked.
Speaking of great tones. A friend of mine told me that Spike from DRI used his amp when DRI played Austin and he was watching exactly what Spike did just out of curiosity while he was setting up. He wouldn't tell me what all he does though.

It's all less unnecessary than doing a Van Halen and setting everything up facing away from the crowd. Just another reason why duct tape solves all of life's problems.

Yea, I guess so, but it's not the same as a recipe because he didn't create it. It's like taking one ingredient and hiding it, but you didn't do anything to that ingredient, it has inherent flavor all it's own, and unless you cultivated or synthesized it, everyone else has the same right to it. Again, it makes no difference to me, as I've got my own preferences.
Most of my equipment is actually pretty mysterious as well, given that both of my amps are missing logo plates and a couple of my pedals have all of the paint scratched off. Though they were like that when I purchased or received them.

I just bought an SG with P90 pickups. thing is amazing!! A Gibson? Or knockoff of some sort? Less pedal secrets, more guitar details! [ And I bet I could guess pretty close what old Peavey he's using to power 6x15"s... But I respect your secrets of grind fu! ]

I was joking about knowing his secret. Splatterreah was/is amazing, the bass on demo 2 is so fucked up sounding.

A Gibson SG. thing rules! I bet it does... Pics please! I really wish I would have not bought the SG Jr. copy I bought. It'll be nice when I sand and refinish the headstock. And set new tuners in the headstock. And replace the weak p-90 with something that doesn't sound like crap. Then it'll be a good guitar. Until then it hangs on the wall and pisses me off with it's handsome uselessness.

I guess the dude is sending me a rack mount power conditioner with the Sound City. I might have to pick up a subharmonic drone generator to utilize it, considering I don't have any rack-mountable equipment already.

I suppose I'll post what drums I use for my new Japthrash/pop-punk influenced band, The Ridiculouses, with Bryan from HSW on guitar and Josh from Rad Company on bass. I sold a lot of my hardware and cymbals a year or 2 ago, so a lot of this stuff is borrowed.
-Tama Superstar Kick, Snare, and Rack Tom -Tama Rockstar Floor tom -Zildjian ZXT 20" ride -unmarked 16" crash -Paiste 404 14" hats -Pacific single kick pedal
Oh yeah, this is lefty set-up because I'm sinister, dawg.

I'm getting a new drumset in a couple days, a Gretsch Catalina Club kit. 16" bass, 12" snare, 8" and 10" toms and a 13" floor tom. Some Sabian cymbals... no clue what they are just yet.
My guitar setup:
-Dean Avalanche 7-string with an EMG 707 -Marshall Valvestate 8100 -Marshall MG series 4x12.....piece of fuckin garbage haha, if anyone has any recommendations for a cab that would sound better with my amp and guitar, please recommend away. I don't know a whole lot when it comes to gear.

I don't know a whole lot when it comes to gear. How do you like that 8100? I never seem to have the cash when they pop up. For a 4x12 cab, almost anything would be better than the bottom end Marshall. The speakers in them are total junk. We've got an older Mashall in the shop I cover an afternoon in once in a while, and that sucker just sits there. Peavey Triple XXX, Marshall 1960A or 1960B, Vader, the Crate cabs with the Celestion 70-80's, Randall cabs (even the cheap one w/ the Eminence Jaguars!)... Even the budget Epi 4x12 with the Eminence Lady Lucks would be better.

Hahaha nope, I'm going to try it out before I buy it for sure, it is a little small but as long as it's not too awkward to play on...
As for the 8100 I'm definitely a fan, whenever I use it through a good cab anyways. And I picked it up for about $250 so I can't complain

Finally got all of the cables necessary to run both my 200s and 120r at the same time. Even just running them clean it's ridiculous. Picking up an EBS octabass pedal in the next week to put my 120r into guitar frequency range to finish filling out my sound.

Is that Octabass octave up? Sounds like wall of noise fun!
You ever see or play through a Sunn SB 200 bass amp? 200 watts, 1x15 combo. Goes to 300 watts with a 4 ohm ext. cab (amp safely running @ 2 ohm load). One of the few bass amps I've seen that I could afford, plus it's Sunn & plenty of power...

Nah, I'd never heard of that one. Every Sunn amp I've played has been pretty solid for the money, as long as it's pre-Fender buyout. And yea, the Octabass is one octave up and up to two down, I picked it up because I hate how hollow two-piece drum and bass bands usually sound.

Well, my working rat pedal got jacked by some mother fucker from New Jersey. Got my Peavey t-40 though, and it sounds fucking incredible so far.

I would imagine going 2 octaves down would get pretty muddy, how's the clarity while tremolo picking? I may have to acquire one o' these!

I've only been using the octave up, but I'm sure you could find clips online. I also don't play with a pick, so I couldn't tell you how that sounds.

For guitar I use a Les Paul Smartwood (hippie sustainable wood guitar), and an Ampeg SS150, which is the Assuck/Discordance Axis head! I only use it live, because it doesn't record very well. For recordings I am using a Mesa Mark III green stripe. I have DIY 2x12 with 25 watt eminence that sounds great with a ribbon mic like a Coles 4038.

I have DIY 2x12 with 25 watt eminence I have 2 12" speakers that I took out when I changed the speakers in my Mesa cab, and I've been meaning to build a box for them for years. I need to do this, so I can run a 4x12 and 2x12 together.
