I'll just add I really don't get "traditional metal"/NWOBHM/etc. at all. one day, it's gonna happen for you man! just hang in there! no one your age listens to this band... do they? any relapse sounding grindcore most crustalmost all powerviolence right on guy for the sake of relevance, i would also like to add i think the band SMG sucks.

Mastodon was putting out their best material when I was in high school and being the type of dude I was, I really dug it. I still think Remission and Leviathan are pretty decent albums, but I never listen to them anymore, nor do I have any familiarity with any material past that.

Remission wasn't bad, I meant more their modern incarnation as the "oofy jams the rest of the world loves." Dailor is one hell of a drummer though, won't deny that... and yes, George, sadly there are plenty of people my age who not only listen to that god awful tripe but praise it as being some sort of turning point/significant bullshit in metal.

Isn't Mastodon from Atlanta? You must get an embarrassingly high abundance of nut humpers down there.

another shooting myself in the foot probably, extortion. not live, not on record, nothing. in fact, i blame extortion's shit set as the cause for me missing iron lung (they only got to play two songs cause the show went too late) also, hirs? really? To true, Extortion are total hype and hyper boring. Hahaha hirs

Phobia ... White bread grindcore. You know, I want to address this too because I had a thought recently... I think Phobia and Blood Duster are to grindcore as hair metal is to metal as a whole. This is not to say that I have a major issue or even real dislike for either of these bands, but I definitely view them as being totally "style over substance" in their approach.

Blood Duster is a little different though, I like their stadium rock songs, if only for the comedic value. The only Phobia that didn't bore me to death is the All That Remains ep, but my dislike of them has more to do with them as people.
Edit: More to do with Shane as a person, I don't know much about the rest of them, Danny Walker seemed legit.

Phobia surprised me with a really good live set in 2008 (sure it's gone way downhill since...). I enjoy their first 5-6 releases although the 'Enslaved' 7" is pretty weak.
Blood Duster is just too silly to take seriously from any angle.

although the 'Enslaved' 7" is pretty weak. I think this is the best one, or Return to Desolation.

I've seen Phobia 4 times, the first time being right around when Cruel came out, and the last time being in 2008. The first three times were awesome. The last time they were sloppy and shitty. I think the difference with the last time I saw them was they had Bryan Fajardo on drums.

I have a funny flyer from years back of Trap Them playing second on a local show when they were just starting out. I haven't seen that band since they "hit it big" so to speak.

Phobia = Brogrind. Bryan is a good dude though and an insane drummer.
Nick Psudoku, so true, total rubbish same with paralamentireieb solodjmkiujhzzz, I remember earache flew that lad over to "sing" for Insect Warfare, it was awful. Rich TAG did the Entombed over in Leeds and killed it, they should have got him for all the dates or justs tuck with Beau.
I'm gonna throw XbrianiaX into the mix, listened to the album again the other day, no clue what's the big deal about em.

i was wondering who that loser chick was playing guitar in the interview video, and had to check metallum. phobia is little more than a punchline with no steve burda and 2 noisear members now. suck factory

Hearing her say "my grindcore family" edges a little too close to juggalo-esque phrasing for my taste, but coming from a member of Phobia it isn't especially jarring. Though it is still pretty cringe-worthy.
But I'd bone her senseless, nevertheless.

Melody and grindcore; does not compute. She seemed like a real airhead, I bet their jockmosh fanbase tripled when they added her and didn't have to hide their boners in the pit anymore.
