Eh, I talk shit about two footed blasters all the time but its like wrestling talk. I still love some two footers. Adrian from Cloud Rat used to do use two feet, and Aaron from THC does (but has more of a mutant monster approach to blasting). Cloud never really accuse those dudes of cheating...
What I mean to say is that I guess I can forgive them for getting disillusioned with grind, especially when they'd been doign it that long as they had by the time they wrote Heartwork (which I really liked back in the day). I can even forgive reforming to play some shows and have fun, but Carcass is a cashgrab, which is unforgivable.
Anyone remember those venom parody stickers from the late 90s that said MONEY instead of the band's name and had dollar signs in the goats eyes. Said something like "Welcome to Cash" which could have been a lot better.
CASH DEMENTIA CREPITATING BANK EROSION TOOLS OF THE TRADER RUPTURED IN OPULENCE INCARNATED CREDIT ABUSE
Some just don't need any changing at all:
EXHUME TO CONSUME
Anyway, fest will be awesome, and I wish I could go. Oily Men got asked to play but I have some super important school deadlines that exact day. If it was one day later I could do it but cest la vie.

I quit a band once cuz we played a show on a weeknight, and it made me forget to register for classes, meaning I had to wait 3 more semesters to finish my program.

Who really gives a shit if a drummer uses one or two pedals while blasting? They can both be utilized effectively

Anyone who listens carefully can tell the difference. I think they both have their advantages and disadvantages in sound, how good they come out really depends on the player.

It's a matter of frippery for elitist blast nazis. Of course you can tell the difference, but as Mike said, they both have their place and both can/should be used as appropriate.

Oily Men got asked to play New band name? I like it. And I do prefer the sound of single pedal blasting, can't think of a situation where I would prefer to hear a blast with two feet. I understand a double pedal has other benefits, but don't see that as being one. Carl, your defensiveness seems to imply you use two feet? Care to enlighten on why you like it?

I switch off between one and two-pedal blasting depending on what sounds best to me for a given part of a song, although pretty much all of the last Grinchfinger recording (CTK split) had two-pedal blasts. Sorry to seem defensive, but I have heard the "only one-pedal blasts are real" bullshit within the grind scene for a few years now, and I completely disagree. I'm not a great drummer by any means, but two-pedal blasts almost always sound more solid to me if played correctly (on tempo), and I find the "Agathocles-style" one-pedal blast (slow foot, fast snare) sounds really phrased and lazy. I also think it is harder to remain accurate/loud at high speeds with one foot, when you could be using two pedals at a slower rate to accomplish the same thing.

Nerding out about blast beats is exactly what should be talked about on a grindcore forum.

I think one foot blasts sound better up to a certain tempo. The times that double foot blasts sound better to me are when the two foot action would sound fast in a different kind of beat anyway.

Yeah I guess it's really just a matter of consistency to me, that you can hear the difference between the two beaters, but past a certain bpm it usually gets so chaotic I don't think you can anymore.

I'm going to try to keep this conversation going as long as possible. I'm the only one who will potentially go to this anyway.
