and you gotta figure those towns over there arent getting a lot of bands coming through, especially from the states, so im sure kids take what they can get and come out even if they havent heard of your band.
would be an awesome time regardless

Nah, I think I'd just have a lot more fun there. Everyone in the band either is or has been a chef at some point, so the culinary aspect is an added bonus. oh yeah one hell of a good bonus

I see why to go and why not to go.. If you wont to go to SE Asia, just do it. I bet kids would be pumped to see any band that isnt from around there.

Word, that's what I'm thinking, I mean I get stoked when I see touring bands from other countries come here I've never heard, like Tropiezo.

hey guys! well, you would be surprised to know how many lesser known/obscure bands kids over here in SE Asia know about, especially with so much music available on Myspazz and all. things have certainly improved for kids here, given that just 4 to 5 years ago,we would have on average maybe just 1 to 2 touring bands hit our region per year but right now it almost seems like we have a touring band coming thru every month, sometimes even 2 at a time. and kids definitely are supportive of touring bands, even if they havent heard of the band before, they will still come out and party/dance at the shows. i was just in Bangkok last week to meet up with Krupskaya to hang out and show them around/eat tons of awesome vegan/veggie food and their first show there was awesome. really good turnout (im estimating about 70 to 80 paying people) too. the grind scene there in particular is really blooming since the last time i was there with Magrudergrind. saw a kid wearing a Looking For An Answer shirt and a local grind band even covered Insect Warfare. here are some pics of Krupskaya playing in Borneo over last weekend. note that Krupskaya is pretty unknown in these parts! they sure look like they are having fun!

I'm pretty sure most kids in those countries wouldn't know about most of the bands that would be touring there through these guys. So it's really no different. "Dec 2009 - Krupskaya (Manic grindcore, UK!) Jan 2010 - Pisschrist (Melbourne raw d-beat attack!) Jan 2010 - Blockshot (Riot-grrl, Germany!) Jan 2010 - Ghostlimb (pissed off melodic thrash hardcore, US!) Feb 2010 - Birushanah (experiemental sludge/doom, Japan!) Apr 2010 - Germ Attak (Punk as fukk, Canada!)" You think the average kid in any of those countries who likes this type of music has heard of any of those bands before he goes to the show? You'd be very surprised, dude. We have internet here, you know.

I don't mean that in an offensive way, I just know that there is a lot of poverty in some places, but I guess we'd be playing closer to the city. Iono.

You think the average kid in any of those countries who likes this type of music has heard of any of those bands before he goes to the show? yes. the kids know about everything there, at least as far as the 'scene' is concerned. the poorer countries not so much, but in general, yes. point taken though. kids pretty much love the idea (as do i) when foreign bands tour there, or at least so i have heard.... CONQUEST FOR DEATH toured s.e. asia (last year?) and they 1) played huge shows, and 2) saw all sorts of obscure US/Int'l releases in distros, shirts on kids, etc. CFD is barely a big band, and honestly pretty average. and apparently... PROTESTANT is huge in Indonesia. robert/CFD: ..looking at a Protestant CD in a distro... laughing.... promoter:"oh you know Protestant?!" robert/cfd: "yeah, i used to live in the same town." promoter: " they are everybody's favorite band here." news to me. and likewise Protestant is by no means a big band. far from it. if we had the money or time i'd tour s.e. asia in a heartbeat.

To all who might be curious about what touring SE Asia is like, there's a Conquest For Death tour blog and a 97-Shiki tour video floating around in cyberspace. www.conquestfordeath.com/blog/
