Should probably mention A+R in Texas fucked up big recently. I contacted them months ago about doing a repress of the Bantha 7" and they said we'd have them ready long before their tour, then eventually they just stopped returning my messages, wouldn't call me back when I called, etc. Never happened. Concurrently Iskra was pressing their split with Doom Siren there and were told the same thing- they'd be ready in time for tour... Iskra finally got them a couple weeks AFTER the tour, and the records have dents, some have cracked center labels, and the fucking records are just a few millimeters bigger than a standard 12" so they don't even play on some turntables. It just gets stuck and won't revolve. I got pissed off because I thought my turntable broke down again, then realized what was happening. I talked to their drummer on Facebook and he told me about all the problems and said he had to trim his down with tin snips to get it to play, and that they're trying to get a refund.

Someone smarter than me should tell me exactly what to request and I'll get on it. Is it just the plates?

Well when it became clear they weren't going to have them in time for the tour I just gave up because I wasn't sure if you'd still want them pressed. I just wrote them again, if they don't respond I'll start calling.

Oiltanker had tons of weird delays/ problems with A+R recently too. They had all sorts of delays up until Opton called them, at which point they said they could do the press of 300 LP's in one day and promptly pressed em. Kinda makes you wonder why the hell it took 3+ months for them to do it...

I had two records mastered at Archer, one was great, the other was not. Source material was extremely similar.

my two cents since people seem to be having issues with mastering type issues. i have records mastered elsewhere then lacquers are cut at Prairie Cat (illinois). or if the record doesnt need or warrant outside mastering, mastered and cut at Prairie Cat. -note: its the same price via PC either way- i swear by the guy (my broker uses him too now for pressing at Rainbo), as do many others. turns the lacquer from receipt to plant in usually 2-3 days. great guy with 30+yrs experience. accepts masters via upload/link/email. takes checks/mo/cc over the phone. United broke my stampers and he replaced the lacquers for 1/2 price and covered shipping. (united doesnt cover 'out of plant' replacements) something to think about if anyone is looking for another option.

Damn, hope I didn't get screwed. Been reading stuff on Poly-Cut Records. Not replying to emails and Being months behind on orders. (forum here:http://lathetrolls.phpbbweb.com/lathetrolls-ftopic2800-0-asc-0.html ) It's not even much longer than he was supposed to take and I tried to write him to say "No worries about being late, people get in over their heads sometimes blah blah blah..." but the email address we were communicating through no longer works. I wouldn't suggest using Poly-Cut Records unless all of this stuff starts getting worked out. www.poly-cut.com/

Palomino's prices are super cheap... wonder how they hold up on all fronts. and the chepeast route is often not the best, friends.
but that sucks pep, I haven't even heard of that plant until now. what are you pressing there?

He did an AMAZING job on the Disleksick 5 inch lathe that I did early spring of this year (7 copies, just testing the waters basically) and then he ripped everyone off in sight. I do not know how I got through with it. Do NOT use Poly Cut for lathes or even if you need to talk to someone via email. He wont do either!
