i keep being surprised by what bands have been getting records released. i'm never gonna give a fuck about brucexcampbell, repulsione, faction disaster, dysmorphic, dead church, mother brain, and a whole bunch more probably. those are just the ones that stick out to me at the moment. Definitely feel this sentiment but brucexcampbell is actually a super ripping live band.

^I'll cosign on that as well. I think I'm just picky though, I would assume there's people into that stuff if labels are dropping the cash to put their records out... or maybe they just have crappy taste.

I like Faction Disaster but the rest of that, meh. I guess it's not what you know, but who you know...

I really liked the Unholy Grave cover that Brucexcampbell did.

I like when a person describes their band's music by referencing a lot of other groups they might enjoy, but don't actually reflect at all in their sound. it's like watching someone sinking in quicksand.

I'd just like to say right now because some midwesterners I know seem to think this exists, there is no Anal Cunt/Dropdead feud. At all.

sethputnam.com addressed in detail that there was no feud and he had a polaroid of dropdead acting like they were locked in a mcdonalds.

You know, considering I have seen Josh Martin up front at Dropdead shows before...

This shit is pretty rad. New England has had a thriving black metal scene for quite some time. grue.bandcamp.com/

Posted this in that dudes internet collab noise thread but decided i'd remove it and post here instead as to not steal his thread:
I've been wanting to do something where the drums are recorded with no pre-determined riffs or whatever. Just whatever wild shit the drummer wants to do in a short fast grindy blasty fasty sorta way. Then I can record bass and some vocals and someone could record guitar and more vocals or whatever or vice versa between bass/guitar just need to decide on a tuning and general style. Any band I've ever been in has been done where the guitar or bass players write the riffs and then the drums are written to that, I think it'd be fun to do it the other way and see what happens. My knowledge of recording is super limited but I have the means to record bass and vocal tracks into garageband and send them to someone if they have the knowledge/desire to participate.

I did that with a friend of mine. It was just drums and bass. Me being a goof forgot to make all the necessary precautions and one of the cables was dead going to one of the mics in the bass recordings, giving it a really echoey, wimpy sound and it was really disheartening and I never bothered re-record the bass.

I'd be willing to give it a shot, ryan. Been playing drums more lately and just bought a new shell pack and moved into a place where I can record. I don't have regular computer access though, so it might be a while before I can digitize it from my tape 4-track.

I remember a band that operated on that very same premise...

Yeah, give me a few years to get on Dave Witte's level. Thanks for the reminder about those guys too.
Side note, when I typed Dave on my phone, it prompted me with Matthews. I want to puke.

Haha your phone is a chet!
Right on Dom, sounds cool! No sweat on it being a minute before you can send tracks, I'm in no rush, just send em over when you can and I'll get goin on riffs.

It's taken over 12 years, but I get it. I finally get it. I hated the vocals at first, then I just thought it was boring, then even when getting into thrash for real I was underwhelmed by so many people saying "hey this is the best band ever" but shit, that's all been finally set aside. I get Slayer. I finally get it. WHAT THE FUCK HAS BEEN WRONG WITH ME ALL THESE YEARS

solidly overrated from a born-in-1988 perspective. better and faster stuff around by the time i was tuned in so slayer is still really whatever in my book.

Out of curiosity, what was the catalyst for your enjoyment, Mike?

Well Mike I guess were fully friends again. I'll have to make the trek out to P-town. I'll bring two 30 packs and we can shot gun a beer for each song on Show no mercy, Haunting the Chapple, Hell Awaits and Rainning blood. Then we can wonder around smashing shit and causing problems for then you will join the ranks of the hord. SSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Out of curiosity, what was the catalyst for your enjoyment, Mike? You know how sometimes it just takes a while for a band to click? I guess in this case, it took me about 12 and a half years.

Haha better late than never!
I've definitely had some bands not sound that great to me initially and then be drinking with some buddies or something and have it come on and be stoked on it. Funny how that is.

On a different note: I finally quit being a lazy fuck and recorded some bass lines I've been working on and sent em to the other two spew dudes. Now I just need to make some more time to record the rest of the shit I've written.
