i REALLY hate scarves. They make me feel like i'm being strangled. a a scarf's natural habitat is; wrapped around Dr. Who's neck, period... and i mean, the Tom Baker incantation of Dr. Who!
however, i digress. scarves are extremely fucking warm, and i hate freezing, so i will, on occasion, wear one... on days like today.

Scarves are both a must have item here in the dark frostbitten tundras of Canada. Something like minus 26 today, tomorrow it will be minus 29. Need a scarf to keep warm.
But it is also fun to rock a scarf from time to time. Screw the haters, you should see the people at my school though, some look like they cut up a shirt and put it around their necks.

dude you live in NC. it can't be that cold. it isn't Florida, down here. it can get pretty shitty during the winter. it was 16° this morning, and is going to be 9°, tonight. i mean, it isn't Connecticut or Sweden or Siberia or anything, but 9° is fjucking cold!

It's something like -32 here right now. I guess it's colder in Illinois than it is in Alaska or at the North Pole right now.

swilliam- we typically don't get too much snow... we get black-ice. but yeah, we thought the same thing when we moved down here. figured, hey it's "the south", it should be warm... well warmer than Buffalo, anyway. The humidity and wind chill are the killers, here. summers can be of the brimstone interpretation of "Hellish", and Winters can be feel 9th level "Dys"-ish, sometimes. The 20° temp here has the wind chill at 9°, right now'ish. your -3° & -waffles' -32°...uggh! that shit can fuck right off! your wind chill is probably---... i don't even want to think about it, because it's making my brain freeze. yuck! you guys' blood is probably as thick as molasses.

yeah humidity sucks a fuck here too in the summer. fuck. sometimes you just can't get a break. if we all move to cali, it'll fall into the ocean. if we move to arizona, where the is no humidity, we'll simply burst into flames, the midwest... blown away in a tornado, mid/north east & ALL points north(PAC NW/ MIDWEST) for that matter... walk outside, slip on the ice, and shatter when you hit the ground, because you froze solid during the .316 seconds that it took you to fall on your ass. then in the summer we all melt and feel like the air is so thick that you could to slice through it with a knife, while hiding in the shadows from the code orange ozone alerts. florida gets its own category... because it's florida, and basically you get eaten by an alligator, or shot and robbed for being a tourist. ahhhh, Life in these United States... oh yeah, and don't breathe the air ANYWHERE

I think the air is different in NC than it is in New England. I was walking around a couple nights ago in 14 degree temps and it just felt like it had more bite than it should. 32 degrees can be a real pain down here, but when I was visiting my family for Christmas, 32 degrees actually felt pleasant.

THIS! the humidity here gives us that "cold to the bone" wet chill on top of the already relatively low temps. recipe for instant suck.

What are you talking about? It's more humid where I used to live than it is here, but I also lived right on the coast.

i'm talking about; It's cold. it's a wet cold. i've lived at the coast, as well. the type of cold there is similar to here. however, it seems that the farther inland you go, the temperatures dip lower, making it more noticeable. we need a meteorologist on the board. anyway, now that it is snowing in the Triangle area, it'll be amusing to watch all of the sheeple go full on moron. already had an Excursion stuck in front of my house this morning. stupid. i can't wait to go home, camp out on my front porch, and watch the inept turn my street turn into a parking lot. good times.

It's called the continental effect. The further inland you go, the colder it will be since the earth doesn't hold the temperature as well as the ocean. It's why on the west coast it's really mild all year round; you have the major winds blowing in from the ocean, whereas on the east coast the winds are blowing across the midwest.
