Speaking of that tour, Vektor is on the leg that comes up this way. What's a good album by them to check out (assuming they're a new band)? Would listen.

Both of their (legit) full-lengths, Black Future and Outer Isolation. Ace band, love dude's vocals.

Listening to tracks from Black Future on Youtube right now, this shit kills! Might go to the El 'n' Gee after all to catch them with Exhumed. You should fly back into Providence and ride with me!

I'm glad I checked out that band Bridgeburner because the stuff I listened to was pretty cool, especially because of what I was expecting it to be.

I almost don't want to even post this here, but I just can't resist...
There's a guy on another board I read/post on who constantly, CONSTANTLY starts threads about his own band and not only talks about how it's the most sinister, evil, groundbreaking, original, and downright best band ever, but when you tell him otherwise he'll tell you that your band is garbage, you're closed minded, you have a bad attitude for shunning a fellow "metal brother", and you'll never get anywhere in life.
I present the following song without any further comment.

To think anything less than "ultimate douche" of a guy that uses the phrase "metal brother" with any sincerity is foolhardy

The Fest in Gainesville always has a pretty sorry lineup excluding a few (mostly punk) bands I wouldn't mind seeing, but I'm considering making the drive just to see the David Liebe Hart Band

Gowl/Stone Titan tour last summer went to Salt Lake City. I have no clue who they booked it through or how the show went though. Old post, but the show fell through and we just ended up staying with one of our friends. I've always wondered the same thing though, can't really say i've seen many tours go through SLC. Holy shit, that exists?

Haha, I'm glad somebody knew what I was talking about. And yes, it's totally real and really, really fucking strange. There are a couple more videos on youtube from this session and he always opens up with some rambling story that he tells with complete sincerity.

yesterday i was listening to a Residents song and one of carl's hippie friends asked me "what I was learning" from this "noise", attempting to insult my musical taste and implying that listening to it is a statement on my part, as he was attempting to show us a sweet drum solo he had heard on Youtube (for real). today, our good pal carl was able to reduce it further to "dudes mak[ing] cartoon noises that relate 'things about spiritual rebirth'". When I responded that it was actually about God being disappointed in man he created, he replied that that lyrical theme was "just as silly". Can someone say WEAK MINDS??
God never really did like man anyway At least not after they started walking around On their hind leg(s) And talking on the telephone Of course poor God's point of view wasn't easy now (to) understand He had invented man from dead things At that time there were no grave yards to rob So He had been forced to use dead worms, some sea weed That had laid out on the beach for quite a while For quite a while. At that time man had four legs and no telephone A major mistake came when God decided that man should think (A trait that He'd long desired for Himself) What God no doubt intended was For man to think about Him And that was important because God just wanted to be Just another normal deity
All that God wanted to be Was just a normal deity All that God wanted to be Was just another normal deity All that God wanted to be Was just a deity Just a normal deity
All went well for quite a while Man was a wonderful creature With long rich engraved face Four fine legs ending in five mini-legs And a coat of satiny hair And large genitals His thoughts were pure and Full of wonder The wonder part was God's favorite, (at least at first) Because that's the part that gave Him His Identity Oh, it was so wonderful for God Man's... Man's questions turned to visions And visions gave God All kinds of exciting things to do Someday He would be a God of wrath Reeking havoc upon undiscipline mankind And at other times He'd be a God of love and compassion Of course these were all things that man had invented So God had a hard time getting the full grasp But... One of His favorite things Was man's believing in Him, and then not believing in Him One of His favorite things Was man's believing in Him, and then not believing in Him Believing in Him, Not believing in Him Believing in Him, Not believing in Him Over and over I think He liked believing in Him much better But I'm not sure...

In other words, George takes things too personally and can't have an objective conversation about music... crybaby?

Lightning Bolt, another local band I like, a local band I think is awful but like two of the people in it, and a bunch of no care I either haven't heard of or haven't bothered listening to are playing some all day warehouse fest thing that's taking place outdoors, is $10 if you show up after 5pm, and is probably going to be exactly what I'd expect.
Hmm...
