I know there's still a few days left, but I don't care.
Seems like a lot of people are having a really shitty year. Not me. I would actually say this is one of the best years I've had in a long time.
Good things about this year:
-Playing shows, including the birth of a second band
-Recording material with one band I was really happy about
-No major issues with my job
-Didn't have a girlfriend or date anyone the entire year
-Seeing so many sick bands, I can't even begin to tell you
-Finding more cool shit to do with my spare time, did a bit of cooking, played some new video games, read some new books, shit I will remember fondly, perhaps even more so than some of the stuff I was into when I was younger
-Not just seeing awesome bands, but actually getting to book a couple and actually feel like I was part of the process of something I've seen other people do for so long
-Improving my drawing skills, between show flyers, art for my tape, and other random crap, I feel like I've actually gotten better
-Felt like I met an extraordinarily high amount of new people this year, or perhaps it seems higher because more of those people were actually worth meeting
-Quit reading so many stupid fucking message boards (this is the only one I read now) and replaced them with the most interesting things mentioned above
-Drank/smoked less (part of this could be attributed to working nights and not to say I didn't get rowdy quite a bit, but the fact that I did it less often than 2011 makes me happy)
-Traveling out to the midwest and going to Gettysburg, PA with one of my friends who does Civil War re-enactment shit
-Not spending a single summer day in the god damn mother fucking southern half of the United States and frying alive.
Bad things about this year:
-Getting arrested out in Ohio and having to go to court and take a Greyhound bus home overnight from Lima during the Gowl/MN tour, but seeing those four shows in OH/MI I did see was well worth it and I am itching to hit the road again
-With all the cool people I met over the course of the year, there are a few of them I either alienated, creeped out, made uncomfortable, or just left a bad impression on, a couple incidents I feel bad about.
-Constantly having a fucked up sleep schedule and having to occasionally pass on family stuff because I was either working or couldn't stay awake, this is entirely due to working late nights
-Missing more shows than I feel I should have for the same reason
-Felt I could have traveled more, but I did enough.
So, how about you?
