Anyone out there have a Dead Format account? I recently started one so I could get things a little more organized and thought it'd be easier than an Excel sheet. If you do, post a link to your tradelist!! deadformat.net/tradelist/conkyle666

How featured is the cataloging? I started working on a database to keep track of my stuff, but haven't finished the structure yet. If an existing solution does what I want (ie sleeve scans, vinyl color, multiple presses, purchase details) I might be into it.

Discogs accounts can do most of this - curious as to why someone would use deadformat, seems like a lot more work for a lot less features.

My shit is all out of date but most of my vinyl is here, missing atleast 50+ vinyls and 30+ tapes though...... Hope to use some free time soon to get it back in order/updated. deadformat.net/viryldeth

What makes it so time consuming? I've noticed that Discogs actually has a developer's API for querying their database, unfortunately no support for uploading. I guess I should clarify the purpose I see in cataloging: insurance companies suck and as my collection grows larger and larger I get hung up on all of the what if's (fire!). It'd be nice to keep track of what I paid for things, because the insurance company would treat your OG clear vinyl press of Downsided no differently than a Buck Owens single that has been sitting in a jukebox for 35 years.

discogs is in no way complete. if you wanted to add your collection, you would have to spend days entering in all the info they didn't have. i just bought something from andres a couple days ago that isn't there at all, and they have most of the band's discography.

Ive Had a dead format account for years but deleted my list recently, the board is lame and the tradelists suck compared to using Discogs.
