This is a Saturday. Would any of the gents living in the area on this forum care to join me in a journey to the city of New York for these fine events? (or maybe just the night one)

I might be down. I love parasytic.
err, scratch that. Riistetyt and SSR are playing hartford but without Parasytic, so I might be interested in going to NY.

Really? I was actually kind of wondering if a Providence show would happen out of this as well since Riistetyt has played here before.
Wouldn't mind a mini-road trip though.
Where in Hartford is this happening?

Yeah I need a real copy of that LP too. When I saw Parasytic, I had no idea who they were. They were the opening band on a Final Conflict show in Raleigh. They played a long set for an opener (which I was grateful for) and have been dying to see them again since now that I know the songs. They are one of my favorites right now, totally fucking thrashy and yet so punk.
Seeing Riistetyt would be cool too, they're not my favorite band in the world but I bet they would be fun as shit live. Not to mention I'm still kind of bummed about missing them five years ago.

Can't say I'm surprised by that either since both Paraystic and SSR are from Richmond. It actually wouldn't surprise me if they share members either.

oh I didn't realize SSR wasn't playing. Mike, they don't share members, or didn't last time I saw them. The dude who used to have shows in Waterbury is the bass player of Parasytic now too.

Oh wow, that's pretty awesome for him actually. I'd rather live in Richmond than a shithole like Waterbury any day.
So if I started a carpool (being the far man out), would anyone else join in?

Sachson plays guitar in SSR now too. They are playing Hartford though. They weren't going to at first because it was a Monday and they wanted to get back to RVA but they changed their minds.

Just got back home from the city. Spent a total of 14.5 hours out of my house and it felt like I was running around a lot of the time. Lots of transitions between trains. Went to Hospital before the show and it was a pretty cool store though it seemed like most of it was black metal and noise stuff and I don't have a lot of knowledge in either field. Parasytic played a fucking awesome set at the show but honestly I found myself not caring about the other bands... they sounded good and all but I'm really just not into the style that Riistetyt and SSR were playing all that much. So all the people out there going to Hartford (which I'm guessing were all at this show anyway, I'm just saying this on the off chance I'm wrong) you won't be disappointed.
New York City is a fucking madhouse. Storefronts everywhere at ground level, full basements under every building, 4-5 levels of apartments or whatever else in every building. And this is just in the tiny section around ABC No Rio. The skyscrapers around Grand Central were fucking unbelievable. It's funny how I always felt so squashed any time I went to southwestern Connecticut, yet on the train ride back to New Haven, looking out the window it just felt like there was so much breathing room. NYC is definitely cool and I would love to visit again any time, but as far as living there goes I don't think I could ever put up with all the noise, even though I like the idea of living in a city where you don't need to own a car and can just take trains and walk everywhere, a place where the number of pedestrians is much higher than the amount of cars on the road. Not like most of the roads looked like they were suitable for driving anyway.

Never, aside from driving through the Cross Bronx (95).
One thing that's worth noting about that is Rhode Island is such a small state that people around here are total weenies when it comes to driving. People around here will complain about having to drive from Warwick to North Attleboro, a drive of about 20 minutes. I remember my dad telling me when he went down to Groton to play golf, the guy he was with kept saying how it was such a long drive and it was only 35 minutes. So I guess growing up here I kind of had that mentality until I actually moved to an area for a couple years where things are spread out so far apart. Sure I would go to Boston or Worcester or X city in Connecticut for shows on occasion but New York was something that always seemed too far away when it came to normal travel for whatever reason.
