Boston rules!
And every band mentioned in this thread is better than Liturgy by a longshot.

I never opened this thread. Seriously, you Jawbreaker haters can rightfully fuck off and die in a well.
I can't fall asleep because I have been jamming so hard on Shai Hulud and Strongarm. Yeah, I just came back from MDF, but even with amazement there, I have been on a huge metalcore kick over Memorial Day weekend. Indecision was a big part of the ride down to Maryland.
There is stuff a lot closer to actual "guilty pleasure music" (i.e., Journey's "Worlds Apart (Separate Ways)" is a fucking fantastic song and it always makes me happy), but I figured that you guys have a big stigma over metalcore and I don't really care since you'll all be dead in a well not too long from now.

Why the fuck would you feel guilty for this? 36 Chambers is still one of the best records I own. No shame/guilt/whatever.

Why the fuck would you feel guilty for this? 36 Chambers is still one of the best records I own. No shame/guilt/whatever. You know how a lot of people who don't really listen to all that much music but think they have diverse tastes will bust out the "I like everything but country and rap" answer? Country >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> rap I would be ashamed to like any rap/hip-hop, as that shit is the most ear-grating, non-stimulating, sterile, and downright fucking stupid genre in the history of music. Every time I try to listen to a rap song I can't go more than five seconds in without wanting to beat the shit out of everyone on the planet for how much it offends me. You may shoot me now.

Try being in a fast band with a drummer who only listens to rap. Lamest shit ever.

This is probably really going to get me lynched, but I'd say country gets more shit than it deserves... sure when you get down to it, it's a bunch of rednecks hootin' and hollerin', but it's a very working class genre of music and there's lots of songs about stuff like the open road and the like... I can't hate on that tooooooo much.

If you're talking about classic country, then you have a point. But if you're talking about that sexy tractor drivel that is what's hot with the kids these days, then you can suck my dick. There's no way that is better than Wu-Tang. Shit son, even Lil Jon is better quality than that. Fight me.

I also dig tons of stupid new wave and am a Cardiacs superfan, enough to know stupid facts like their Maresnest VHS was recorded the same night at the same location as Napalm Death's Live Corruption VHS as part of a Cardiacs-Napalm Death supershow. I'm not sure a stranger thing has ever happened in the course of history. No fucking way did I ever think I'd find a Cardiacs fan on this forum. Favorite band, hands down. I ordered 200 dollars worth of their stuff from the UK a few years ago, since they don't have any North American distribution. Since I first heard them I don't think I've ever gone more than a week or two without listening to them, and when I do I tend to listen to them for hours at a time. Strangely enough, though I consider them my favourite band, I've never gotten super obsessive about learning all the history/ triva etc like I have with other groups. I have made Cardiacs mixes for many friends, all but one thought they were uttter shit. If Tim fully recovers and they play again, I would do shameful, shameful things to get to England to see them. I also listen to lots of stuff everyone here would hate. Lots of cheesy, clubby electronic stuff, new wave, prog, experimental and abstract hip hop. I've also always really liked Weird Al for some reason.

Either way, I'm not changing my stance on Wu Tang. i put it up as a guilty pleasure because well, i've got a sequence: pour most pulp glass of orange juice BLUNTS Wu-Tang on tape in my car w/ the windows down, and the tunes all the way up. otherwise i wouldn't have called it a guilty pleasure, i just like to act like i can "ball the fuck out" sometimes.

Not a guilty pleasure but on the topic of Wu-Tang. I listen to a lot of ODB at the library while shelving (headphones on, of course). I always worry that I'm gonna accidentaly start singing along with him. That'd be a nice way to lose a job.

I've also always really liked Weird Al for some reason. Definitely a band that gets my attention for hours at a time only every few weeks or so. I've dreamt of beginning a blast-beat ridden version of the Cardiacs for awhile now and in fact, most of the unreleased (and generally unlearned) songs I wrote for the Methheads before we called it quits were definitely along those lines. I'm also a prog nerd if my name and some prior posts did not make that clear.

I keep hearing the word "prog" being tossed around in this thread, let's get some Rush posted in this shit even though nobody should feel guilty about liking them, ever.
And on a somewhat similar note, I've been an avid Primus fan since I was 14.
