Anyone hear the new Anthrax album? ..... Its horrible. if anthrax came out with something awesome in the 21st century, i would be shocked, amazed, and very skeptical.

I thought Dekapitator and Funerot were fantastic live and I have recently been really impressed by Atlanta's output including Spewtilator and Sadistic Ritual! whatever both of these band just want to be Hallows Eve. listen to ryan's rampaging falsetto vox sadistic ritual was fucking awesome when we saw them. i had never heard them before

The cover art on that Fog of War shit is HORRIBLE, like seriously quite possibly THE worst album art I've ever seen. The first song you posted started off in a way that kind of irritated me, but once the song got going, it wasn't bad.

I can't say I enjoy any of the bands you listed Will Fatcore, aside from Vektor. Cross Examination was probably the last new thrash band I have honestly given a shit about, the riffs are too good. Too many of the new bands are just re-hashing the old sound instead of trying to do something original with it and that's boring as shit in most cases. Ramming Speed is worth checking out if you're not already familiar.

A friend of mine burned me a CD a long time ago with bunch of Cross Exam, Excel, Crumbsuckers, Leeway, and Cro-Mags songs...I can't for the life of me remember what they sounded like. I guess I'll have to reacquaint myself if you say the riffs are awesome.

Yeah man, the Hung Jury EP and Menace II Sobriety LP are both fantastic.

Never even heard of Leeway, other than that, the only one of those bands I find worthwhile is Excel, and only Split Image/demos.
Crumbsuckers is probably worth a look for you too, they just bore the shit out of me.
I'll also second Ryan's recommendation of Ramming Speed, check out the Brainwreck LP.

Oh I was saying that the only band on that CD I couldn't remember anything by them was Cross Exam, my bad. I'm familiar with Crumbsuckers, I really could only get into their first album, and even still they're not something I listen to very often.
Ramming Speed, check. I think they played near here a few years ago. I shall look into them!

I actually like the later, bro mosh Leeway stuff better than the stuff on Born to Expire. shoot me. Crumbsuckers is actually the best band anyone has mentioned on this thread though. back on balck just reissued life of dreams and beast on my back but no one in america is carrying them

up the denim vests
few reasons to not dismiss new thrash metal, because the more I hear of it the more I find good bands, people just seem to write off all new thrash metal just because

Not sure if these were mentioned but "Power From Hell" and "The Force" from Onslaught both rule.

few reasons to not dismiss new thrash metal, because the more I hear of it the more I find good bands, people just seem to write off all new thrash metal just because The thing I find about thrash between both the classics and modern bands is that typically most of the elements are there, but ONE thing about the band is so horrible, it makes them almost unlistenable. The first video you posted has probably the worst drum tones I've ever heard in my entire life. I've heard drum machines with better tones than that pile of shit snare, save the blown out crap for Poison albums. I don't think the reverb vocals work very well with that style either. Second video, hate HATE those vocals. Fucking hate them. The Pessimist song was definitely my favorite of the three and overall an enjoyable listening experience, but since the song was an instrumental, I get the feeling it doesn't represent what the band is all about. Also, fuck Cross Examination. If I can play guitar better than you, you shouldn't try to play thrash, because I can barely pull it off and full out thrash bands consistently, if not always have better guitarists than me. And of course, fuck the lame party thrash trend hopping theme they attached to their band.

i'm a lot into sacred reich lately... Yet another band where the vocals repulse me to no end. Save the opera shit for fucking hair metal, if you're not screaming ferociously, you shouldn't be in a fast band. More Kreator style vocalists, please.

On another note, this album got a play in the van last week and I was like "Why the fuck did I write Anthrax off for so long!?!?" So fucking good.
(yes I know this is a direct contradiction of my "opera vocals" post above but SCOTT IAN)

i like a lot more bands with falsetto vocalists. i really love old japanese glam thrash, like super early visual kei stuff. the vocals are insane.

And of course, fuck the lame party thrash trend hopping theme they attached to their band. I felt the same as you about the 3 videos Will posted but Cross Exam rules, you crazy dawg! I've never been one to care too much about shit being a little sloppy though as long as it's ripping and as much hate as "party thrash" gets these days I just don't care as long as the band is playing something rad... I like drinking, smoking, getting wild, funny shit etc... so I don't see a problem with that being the subject matter as long as it's done well. Can't remember if they were already mentioned for wild as shit over the top vocals and blaaaaaaazing fast thrashing you dudes need to check out Cranium from Sweden. The album Speed Metal Sentence is my personal favorite.

"Kill and Possess" by Fastkill is probably one of my favorite thrash metal songs. That middle part with the triplet riff always makes me think of some cranked out vigilante mowing people down with an AR.
