Slayers Haunting the Chapel is the best thing they did. Not to say that there other albums arent good I just dont like them as much (let me just make it clear, when i say other albums i mean other albums up until Seasons in the Abyss nothing after that is even worth mentioning as i assume everyone on here already knows.)

I like maniaxe a lot, but can't stomach the anthrax-style gang vocals on splatterthrash. anthrax sucks! i like all 3 ghoul albums but i think splatterthrash is my least favorite. it's pretty much a tie between we came for the dead and maniaxe for favorite. and Anthrax rules! Among the Living is a KILLER album.

I don't know, man...I think We Came for the Dead is far and away their best work. I don't like them so much as a four-piece...even if some of the Impaled sound is carrying over, I just don't ever feel like listening to any other Ghoul material.

yeah, i definitely listen to WCFTD more than the others. I was kinda bummed on the fact that splatterthrash is slower than the other stuff but as your casket closes is a ripper... been a while since i've spun it actually, have to throw it on the ipod for my roadtrip tuesday night

Slayers Haunting the Chapel is the best thing they did. Especially the original version of Aggressive Perfector Corrected*

Oh, may as well add too, while I am digging all the straight thrash a lot, I seem to dig the crossover stuff a bit more. So if anyone knows of any classic/modern bands playing that style I may not know of, feel free to enlighten me.

im a pretty big crossover buff myself but you've probably heard most of my favorites... negazione - lo spirito continua coc - eye for an eye dr. know - plug in jesus impulse manslaughter - he who laughs last laughs alone suicidal tendencies - st crumbsuckers - life of dreams ratos de porao - Anarkophobia

That ST has been a staple of mine since I was 14, one of the first things I owned. Still hasn't gotten old to me yet today. I'm familiar with the COC and Crumbsuckers stuff, and it's been a while since I last heard Negazione or Ratos.
Excel's Split Image needs to be mentioned in this thread, I'm surprised more people don't talk about them.

Nice. Since you were saying you liked Coroner you should check out the vhs that has Tankard - 1991 Live in East Berlin and Coroner - 1990 No More Color Tour on it. I think it was called rockbox or some shit. you can find torrents of it pretty easily if you just google "tankard coroner live"

Not too learned on thrash as a whole, but there's always some bands that stand out to me from every genre... Got Chronical Diarrhoea and CoC vinyl in the vaults... Dig stuff like old Sepultura, GWAR and Destruction too. I thought Dekapitator and Funerot were fantastic live and I have recently been really impressed by Atlanta's output including Spewtilator and Sadistic Ritual!

Thrash metal was pretty much my initial foray into heavier music, fucking love this shit. My favorites are probably:
Pestilence - Malleus Maleficarum (!!!) Razor - Violent Restitution Sacrifice - Forward To Termination Hypnosia - Extreme Hatred Invocator - Excursion Demise Aspid - Extravasation (fucking awesome guitar solos) Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence Morbid Saint - both of their albums
There's a shit-ton of other ones I listen to, but those get the most plays in between all the other stuff I listen to.

Haha we were bumpin Epidemic of Violence in the lot before Maiden, Violent Restitution as well actually! I have recently been really impressed by Atlanta's output including Spewtilator and Sadistic Ritual! Thank you sir! SR riiiiiips! Glad they finally kicked out that dorky guitar player/singer they had and got a stand alone singer now, they rage way harder.

Yeah the new singer looks like a little kid but they sound awesome with his vox and Nate shredding guitar. They were one of the best openers I have seen in a long time!

Have you guys heard any new bands you like? I've been trying to keep up with all the new stuff coming out (a lot of it is pretty meh) but so far I've found the best stuff is from vektor, warbringer, mutant, and bonded by blood.
Until I found this band:
over top but awesome and consistent with a great crossover taste
