I'm about half way through this, the second book in The Kingkiller Chronicle. Honestly this series rivals the Drizzt books in my enjoyment of them. I've heard a lot of "for fans of George RR Martin" in regards to these books so if any of you dig that stuff this series is probably worth a look, it rules.

I'll check into that! I'm probably going to finish A Storm of Swords tonight, and I hear Feast For Crows is a slow, boring read...I may pick this or something else up before I start the 4th and 5th ASOIAF books.

Do it! Definitely start with the first one, The Name of the Wind, but yeah... you should, they rule.

Had been without a book for a few weeks since finishing the Odyssey series and couldn't take it anymore, so I went to the library and checked out Michael Crichton's "Micro"... seems promising so far.

Picked up Sway by Zachary Lazar. It's a fictional tale of Kenneth Anger, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Bobby Beausoleil (of the Manson Family). They were all acquaintances in real life. Found this book while reading up on Kenneth Anger. Seems interesting but I really have no idea what to expect.

Just about finished 'Aylesbury Bolton Wolverhampton Hove- A Little Man and 101 Cardiacs Gigs' by Adrian Bell. It's about a man who saw Cardiacs live 101 times, mostly documenting every show he went to on what ended up being their last tour. It's full of tangents and asides about his favourite prog bands, festivals, etc. It's got too much about his beloved football team that I could never care about, but as a megafan of the band it's got lots of interesting trivia and the spirit of fandom and proud geekiness is really relatable.

Right now readin Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and this is already becaming one of my favourites, it's just so good just for the way it's written.
Before that suprisingly some scifi, The Fractal Prince by Hannu Rajaniemi (really good hard scifi, amazing worlds and i really like the plot) and The Demolished Man by Alfred Bester (this one was also really, reminded me why i should read more scifi from the 50's and around that time).

Juggle-reading: GRRM "A Feast For Crows", Dan Abnett "Horus Heresy", and RA Salvatore Legend of Drizzt Book One. I can already tell I'm going to really like the Drizzt stuff, Ryan!
Anybody read Gene Wolfe's "Book Of The New Sun"? I think that's going to be the next series I delve into.

RA Salvatore Legend of Drizzt Book One. I can already tell I'm going to really like the Drizzt stuff, Ryan! Haha awesome! Just wait man... just wait. The first 6 books (The Dark Elf Trilogy and the Icewind Dale Trilogy) are just incredible... the rest are also fantastic but man, those first 6 are something else.

The author seems pretty cool too. About 3/4 done with the 14th and final volume of Wheel of Time. It's pretty much all battles so far which is kinda annoying to me, but still...it's almost over~! Also reading Dark Tower book 6, Titus Alone (mervyn Peake), and Phillip K. Dick short stories. And some book about the underground of major metro areas around the world.

That last one sounds interesting. Like the sewer mutants of Gary, Indiana?

Mostly about underground infrastructure and it's history. There might be stuff about mutants, haven't read that far yet!

A friend of mine from high school I don't talk to much anymore runs a publishing company now and gave me a copy of his bestseller the last time I saw him: It's started off pretty good but I have a feeling the ending of this book is going to piss me off to the next level... And before that I read this, which ruled!

I mostly read books on science, politics and religion because I'm an insufferable turd but I noticed most of you guys read a lot of fiction and I am interested in reading some of the canon star wars novels and wondering if any of you dudes have read any and have any suggestions.

You might dig some of Sarah Douglass' series... The Axis Trilogy (Conan-esque epic fantasy fiction) and The Crucible Trilogy (historical-fiction/fantasy about angels and demons influencing the French and English during the hundred Years' War) were both really well written. I need to read The Wayfarer Redemption Trilogy still though (continuation of the Axis Trilogy).... Note that the first book in the Axis Trilogy is actually called Wayfarer's Redemption (also called Battleaxe) just to make it extra confusing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Douglass

Also I'm currently reading Anti-Intellectualism in American Culture after having just finished World War Z.
Also WWZ was good up until halfway through when it essentually became a generic military grunt style book.

I mostly read books on science, politics and religion because I'm an insufferable turd.... Me too. That's why this thread generally never interests me. We need a non-fiction section.
