They sprayer is just Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce and water. It keeps the caterpillars off my greens...but it also pisses off pollinators, so I have to spray it at dusk.
In the mound of logs its cucumbers, habanero, mustard greens, onions, sungold tomatoes, sunflowers, and other stuff. Its really just an experiment this year as the next few its supposed to do much better.

yeah it's teh same word. in italy it small piccola zucca (small pumpkin). Zucchini and tomatoes are the most common vegetables during summer around here. We also do a dish called carpione which is boiled spiced vinegar which is freezed down and mixed with zucchini, hard eggs, chicken. One my fave summer dishes...

ate turnips, corn, potatoes, fava beans, onions, and tomatoes from the garden last night. woodchucks are becoming less of a problem. I'm doing some fall planting, and building a hoop house to extend my season probably well into October I hope.

I started a blog, so if you have any interest in what the fuck I'm doing in regards to my garden at any given time, feel free to check it out. For those of you that don't give a fuck about such things, I'll probably bump this thread a lot less frequently now that I've got a dedicated spot for this stuff. farmyardboogie.blogspot.com/

Haha, it's probably a sign of how arsey Brits are that we insist on calling zuchini 'courgettes' instead.... just about only the second time we've ever sided with the French on anything...
Oh and I'd love to grow my own food but I hate gardening intensely. My parents used to be bang into growing stuff though from radishes, potatos and strawberries to runner beans and herbs including, if you've heard of it, stuff called 'lovage'.

well, Salt Spring is an island, super close to Victoria (SIXBREWBANTHA territory), but not on the main island that Victoria is on. I'll probably be doing mailorder from him as there's nowhere immediately local like that.

Finally staying at a place with a yard. Hopefully some gardening in a few months. started a compost pit and worm bin to get ready. Have tried growing in this spot once before and this soil SUCKS! Might just end up building a garden box to fill with soil.
