I do enjoy some Winter Lager.
One of my dad's coworkers goes down to Philly on a regular basis on weekends for whatever reason, so I've had an easy time getting Yuengling lately. Black and Tan consumption starts... now.

They opened up a Yuengling brewery somewhere down South a few years ago and that shit is available EVERYWHERE here. I'm not a big fan though, I think it's just like better tasting Budweiser

I tried a Juniper IPA recently and I don't see what all the hype is about.

shandy is a lot better if you just mix it on your own with fresh lemonade IMHO.
last few batches of homebrew were sour mash. one a tart stout, and the others were berliner weiss clones. really great beers too bad you can't find sour mash beers commonly. only commercial examples I know of are Bell's Oarsman and the New Glarus stuff which is fucking amazing.

I've never had a sour mash beer before (not that I know of), but I saw a couple sour mash beers for sale at local grocery store, I'm gonna have to try them out!

A sour beer and a sour mash beer are not exactly the same thing, and sour beers are $pendy.

Hmm, I'll take a look next time I visit the store. If it's not too pricey I'll probably give it a try.

let men know what you find because there is only one I can get here that is sour mash only and not aged to sour it (sour mash happens before fermentation, traditional souring during and after). I have heard that there is a "jerimiah weed" sour mash beer, but that is not a craft beer that is Diagio and I have never even seen it in the store. I think it is supposed to be like a "Kentucky Common", which is (I think) similar to what I'm trying to do, but like I said I don't know because there aren't really any examples available to me. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Common_Beer

A really great beer I've bought a couple times now is by a chicago brewery, off color, and it's called Apex Predator. It's a Farmhouse Ale, kinda like a Saison. I recommend it if you like Gumballhead or Franziskaner/Hacker Pschorr, kind of a mix of the two.

I love funky farmy beers, so I will have to check that out when I'm in IL. Do they bottle it? Because I like Chicago, I just hate driving around there.

Binnys has it too. Which is like the grocery store of alcohol around Chicago. I live in the burbs so city traffic isn't really an issue thankfully. If you are ever in WI. I recommend Spotted Cow by New Glarus.

I just spent $80 on New Glarus stuff when we were in WI for No Tomorrow. Their Berlinerweiss was fucking perfect, but a little spendy.

Tried a ton of Rogue varieties last week. Top 3 were Rogue XS Imperial IPA (I2PA), Rogue Farms 7 Hop IPA, and Morimoto Imperial Pilsner.

Tried this Schnucks (yes, the grocery store) anniversary IPA made by schlafly the other day because it was on sale. Surprisingly drinkable. Only 45 ibu and 6% so definitely made for the casual IPA drinker, but still not bad.

I grabbed some variety pack of Blue Moon, just to reassure myself that I still hate it.
Agave Blonde = Blyech! Summer Honey Wheat = Tolerable, but no cigar. Belgian White = Never gets any better. D-
Last night I was given some malt beverage called Desperados that is "aged in tequila barrels with natural flavor [lime]". It fucking sucked.

I was drinking Agave Nectar fairly regularly for a while because my last practice space was near a liquor store that sold 12 packs of them for 7 bucks. Not very good stuff.

I made the mistake of buying a 12-pack of that last summer. The "blonde" variety isn't any better.
