I work at a dunkin donuts / baskin robbins / 24hr. / drive thru, i do all the general cleaning, machine cleaning / maintenance / help customers / etc. etc. it's semi-stressful when it's 4 a.m. and i've got a line of 4 cars at drive thru, plus 4 dudes at front counter, pretty humiliating at that point because i'm the only person running the front of the store, otherwise i listen to mediocre classic rock the whole time and enjoy being a night owl.

I do tech support for HP RPS (the photo labs in Wal-Marts and shit). it's easy as shit and I wouldn't mind coming to work if it wasn't so incredibly boring. Sometimes we wait almost an hour for a call, and on average it's 20-30 minutes of waiting. So many sites are blocked, too, so what I can do to pass the time is really limited. Sucks.
Applied for a similar job where I can work from home, but they take like 3 months to get back to you with an answer on whether or not they'd like to hire you, so that kind of sucks.

My taste in music in 10th grade was basically Dead Milkmen, Suicidal Tendencies, Propagandhi, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, Anal Cunt, and some other stuff way too shitty to mention. Could have been worse, but can always be better.

I think I found Charles Bronson in senior year, then got the discocrappy right after graduating and was hooked on it for a while. Serious hand-me-down punk band, I can't really imagine anyone older than 21 taking them seriously.

in 10th grade i was listening to bad brains, dk, slayer, SOD, sepultura, rkl, fat music comps, black flag, gbh, casualties, propaghandi, vandals etc.
not that bad in retrospect i guess... but there was a lot more rad shit going on that it would have been cool to know about

If it makes you feel better, I still don't have many people in my area that identify exactly with my music. Seems like the few I do.. tend to move away. There are a few cats though!

People in Raleigh are stuck from a time warp from the early 80s. If it doesn't sound like Black Flag they don't get it, and if you play a blast beat they get confused.

And better than 95% of the Providence scene who would rather bob their heads up and down to white noise with no beat than listen to actual music.

Its also better than where I grew up and it was metalcore. And I somehow completely avoid the jock hardcore scene.

The jock hardcore scene in Providence is completely separated from the real punk scene in every sense of the word, so much so that I didn't even know of its existence until after high school. I thank Armageddon Shop every day of my life and also thank this area for being full of artsy introverts who will bash that shit any chance they get.

yeah, i was also totally oblivious to that shit. i remember hearing hatebreed and thinking "this isn't fast enough to be metal." i don't think metalcore existed when i was in high school or i was lucky enough to not know about it

I remember hearing Hatebreed and Madball and thinking anyone who would listen to these bands is a complete retard. It just sounded to me like music that fat guys would slam beers to and being the militant drug-free type I was in high school, that didn't go well at all.
I was into some math metal/metalcore type stuff in high school but grew out of it as my interest in punk (ie: actual songs rather than mashed up two second chug parts with jazz riffs thrown in) increased. In the last year or so it's been going towards old school metal. Wonder where it'll go next?
