And better than 95% of the Providence scene who would rather bob their heads up and down to white noise with no beat than listen to actual music. we just played with one of these types of bands last night, also from providence. stayed at our house too, totally awkward people.

Thelapincident:
Is warwick near providence? I went there for the amebix show in 2008. I had such a good time there. I found an unmarked envelope on thayer street while walking with my friends. There was 750$ inside, gave my two friends each 100$ and blew the rest while I was there. I dropped almost 3 bills on records at Armageddon shop.
Also went to some warehouse show and saw bob from dropdead's newish band Lolita Black. This really good sludge band Loon opened for them. Do they still play?

I've heard of that band, never bothered listening though.
The scene here is pretty out there. I've never felt like I belonged and anyone I can relate to is either a transplant or someone who seems to sit outside the scene themselves. Hence why I go to out of state shows so often...

Warwick is near Providence, I live about 10-15 minutes south of downtown. It is a pretty fun city on its own, definitely way better than any city in Connecticut and most places in Mass. Good find on the envelope! I hope some rich Brown or RISD shit cried a fucking river over losing it. I typically stay off of Thayer because of all the hipster fucks but it's got some great restaurants, just had a couple slices of pizza at Antonio's the other night. I'm guessing for the warehouse show you were in Olneyville too, that neighborhood has seen a revolving door of places open and close all within maybe two blocks of each other. People get evicted from those spots all the time. I've never heard of Loon... for a couple years I didn't live here and it sounds like you visited during that time. However, Lolita Black got a new singer lately (she's pretty hot and doesn't sound like a bad American Idol tryout, like she can actually sing) and has some new songs and they've gotten a LOT better. Bob also does vocals for the band I Destroyer (thrashy metal, faster than your average band playing this style for sure) and he used to play bass in a band called the Fuzz which I didn't like but whatever. All the Dropdead guys have been in other bands since I've been going to shows but I haven't seen all of them, nor do I know if they're all still active.

I remember throughout middle school I didn't listen to any music at all because I hated everything and for the most part I still keep that same concept

I'm a satellite Technician for DirecTV. I love every minute of my job. If you like working out doors then try to get a job with them, they are always hiring.

Haha yeah my friend Sabrina told me to not feel bad about keeping the money because some trust fund brat probably lost it. I was still vegan at the time and we went to this awesome pizza place called Nice Slice. If I was able to move somewhere in the U.S. I'd probably move to providence. I really liked it when I was there.

The only people who go to Nice Slice are vegans. If it wasn't for them, the place would have gone out of business ages ago. Antonio's smokes it out of the water.

I think I found Charles Bronson in senior year, then got the discocrappy right after graduating and was hooked on it for a while. Serious hand-me-down punk band, I can't really imagine anyone older than 21 taking them seriously. I can get into some Charles Bronson, but then again I have a sligth affinity due to them being from Dekalb, and one of my high school teachers having been in a band with the bassist.

Eh, I just feel like I outgrew both them and Spazz. Neither band does much of anything for me anymore.

I find both bands hold up really well for me, although I think Spazz is far superior in all respects. Their output was far more consistent throughout their career, while Bronson's early stuff was pretty shitty and the end result was pretty rad.

I am an Assistant Program Manager at a group home which is part of this awesome non profit company. I love my job. I work with stellar staff every shift that I have and the 6 dudes who live in the group home are so fucking rad. It also has a good amount of challenges, so I am never bored as the house is pretty high in behaviors and medical issues.

I work in a independent living home for developmentally disabled adults, It's either non-profit or not for profit not really sure. A lot of stress and work for not so stellar pay but most days they just want to eat hot dogs and tell knock knock jokes so I can deal for now. School is not conducive to grinding.

The pay is definitely shit. It is kind of fun to be able to use humor to deescalate potentially violent situations though.

funny you should say that, I almost hung myself today when I got home from work! But than I say my records came so life was worth living. Thanks Will!! My favorite deescalation technique is to say the clients name over and over again like i'm really confused. thats saved me a couple of black eyes.

i find myself probably ending up working with blind folks later in life at some point due to the fact that i'd helped my legally blind mother with most tasks up until i moved and she taught me prior to her loss of vision how to deal with such a thing, kind of an interesting scenario, potentially useful training however.

By the time May is here, I will be able to start my certification for teaching physical sciences in NJ. I'm currently subbing all over the place now (K-12) but my full-time job next year would be for teaching high school physics and possibly chemistry in my county somewhere.

My favorite deescalation technique is to say the clients name over and over again like i'm really confused. thats saved me a couple of black eyes. I personally use humor and "street mama" technique. For example, last week I had to go downstairs to get something and one of my dudes as soon as I opened the door said "What do you want now you fucking bitch?" Me: "What's up with yellin at me dude?" Him: "I'll yell at you if I fucking want" Me: "Fair enough. Does this mean I get to start yelling at you anytime I damn well please?" Him: "(quietly) No I wouldn't like that" Me: "Right on, then lets just talk a bit more civil. What's got you all pissed anyways?" *Commence conversation about whatever small crap was pissing him off and us both laughing about him getting upset at it* :end scene:
